A taste of home features home baking at it’s finest. Cooked and photographed in an ordinary home kitchen by food photographer Rochelle Clemens, a taste of home will truely show you what family means to our most delicious recipes. For my Studio Practice 6 project I will be designing a cookbook for Rochelle’s family recipes, so that generations to come can still enjoy the same family favourites.

The aim of this project is to investigate and preserve the family recipes, history and stories of the Clemens’ family but also document Rochelle’s talent of food photography in a personal cookbook. This hard covered cookbook will shine in the colours of turquoise, white and grey and showoff a continued theme of teacups in a way that hasn’t been seen before.

The idea of making a cookbook and preserving family recipes is something that really appealed to me. I think it is important to create lasting memories with something that is so important to everyday life. Food is something that brings us together, and from day one of our lives it is shared with family and then friends. Creating something that shows food and family is something that is done very often, so by creating a visual identity from my client, I am hoping that a taste of home will stand out.

I have chosen to do this project because I am very passionate about food and family and feel that I can create a unique styled cookbook for Rochelle’s family and friends. It will contain family favourite recipes, memories and stories and family history as well as living life on the farm. As well as family recipes, Rochelle’s photography will be the star of the book, showing off her ability to transfer everyday food from the kitchen into edible works of art.
